IN MEMORY OF OUR BELOVED KARUNA SINGH

“In the 50th year of our marriage, on 1st April, 2010 my beloved wife Karuna suddenly moved to the other world as willed by God.
On March 10, 1961, Karuna and I got married while she was about 18 and I was over 19 years. She was then a graduate student of Patna Women’s College and I had just become Lecturer in Political Science in Patna University. It was an arranged marriage.
Subsequently, on my entry into the Indian Administrative Service we moved from Bihar to Assam then to New Delhi (back and forth), Washington DC and finally to Sikkim. She raised the family which included our three children and six grand-children.
Karuna’s company was an assurance of immense value that I was not alone in the journey of life.
Most of the time Karuna saw the world with her heart and this was a great support. She conducted herself with great dignity both in high and low times. She was both dear and precious.
Karuna had the quality of connecting herself with another person at inner level by being sincere and compassionate, helpful and yet quiet.
Karuna lived life on her own terms. Her life was disciplined and transparent, and her heart was pure. She loved people, and encouraged them to become successful.
Karuna was a beautiful person in every sense of the term.
I am proud of the fact that Karuna was my life partner.”.
